It had nothing to do with religion, just politics and power struggles, but not over the church

The conflict has its roots in the religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants.

Religion was made use of by both sides during the Troubles.

Catholics and Protestants in Ireland have been killing themselves for decades... I'll say it again...
As in times of Irish armies killing protestants in England at the time of the civil war?

Or perhaps as in Irish armies and Irish raiders up to the time of the Norman French conquest of England which reversed the situation of who attacked who?

I'm not interested in who started it I was merely stating that Christians have gone about killing each other and as an example I used the one in Ireland.

In that case you are absolutely correct, but I'm not sure Ireland is the best example.
The church of Ireland in Ireland is a protestants church and the Irish flag acknowledges the Protest movement, and I'm yet to be convinced that every member of the IRA was a Catholic.

Your right it may not have been the best but it was the first that popped in my mind and as Stonefish immediately dismissed it I then had to back it up with a link.
