As I said above, they ALL have to follow the National Currriculum and take the national exams.

I know you said that. Indeed I read it here http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/academies/what_are_academies/?version=1

But your response does not seem to address the points I raised.

Over here ...

http://curriculum.qcda.gov.uk/key-stages-1-and-2/subjects/religious-education/keystage1/index.aspx

It can clearly be seen that the (now heavily "A NEW GOVERNMENT TOOK OFFICE ON 11 MAY" caveatted) National Curriculum only requires consideration of the role of a secular state in religion "if appropriate"

And your response fails to address my other point, the ability of an academy to violate other admissions rules to ensure 100% faith adherence as an entry criterion.

I think that most parents given the choice would send their kids to schools run on private school lines, I have 2 friends who went without and worked all hours to send their kids to private schools neither have regretted it.

Most parents care about their kids education but have no choice but to accept against their will the limited choices on offer depending where they live and work, sadly that means sending their kids to schools infected by kids whose parnest don't give a momkeys.

IMHO if the clock was turned back I would not send my kids to any local school near me I see what idiots they churn out today, they may have qualifications on paper but not very bright to say the least, many of them unemployable.

I totally agree OG, if parents did have the option for their kids to go to school run on the private school ideals, all parents that cared about their kids welfare would send them.

Luckily where i live Both secondary school are great. But i am well aware that we are in the minority.

I do think that the most of the generation of youngsters leaving school now think we owe them a living. They expect to get high paid jobs, go in at the top...and omg if they have to start at the bottom and make tea and do the dogs body jobs.  I have seen the young ones go to job interviews in jeans! And they have no idea how to talk to ppl. God knows what the next 20-30 years will be like :-s

2 things IMHO are not acceptable in our schools the lack of discipline and the fact it is almost impossible to sack a bad teacher to prevent them teaching again they just leave and move schools

Yep discipline is a very big issue. My daughter was saying that the kids that get detention, think its a badge of hounor, and when i said to her, that if she ever had detention, she'd be in trouble at home too, she said "Why? all the other parents dont mind" .... though Id like to think that some kids where stretching the truth abit....i know that there are alot of parents that would be like that, and find it all a joke.

I think one of the problems today is that parents feel very guilty about not spending time with their kids, wanting to do their own thing, basically not spending quality family time together and trying to be their childrens friend rather be a parent and the role that comes with that. So inturn, when teachers, police or anyone that says anything about how 'Billy' is doing this that and the other, their first response is defence, and then its everyones fault but theirs.

Yeah its amazing isnt it that anyone in authority seems to be above what us minnions have to go through at work. I werent up to scratch, we are got rid of.

Don't get me started on faith schools JoG...I have said before and still think they should not be allowed to exist. They are divisive and promote differences in people based on religion...something abhorrent to me.

And i thought you wanted everyone to live in a free society?

My position, which i know you will completely disagree with,is that Christian schools should be allowed and no others.
