how should we tackle Teenage Pregnancy

There is always something that the Government is coming up with to try and stop teenage pregnancy. What do you think should be done? Do you think the media has a part to play in this too? Do we sexualise our kids to soon?

Personally, I feel when sex education is given in schools, boys and girls should be separated, to stop embarrassment and to stay 'cool' in front of the opposite sex.

I also think its about time parents stepped up to the mark. Yes its embarrassing, to discuss sex with your children , But.....It HAS to be done! Teach the girls over and over, its OK to say no, and be confident to say so wen the situation arises. Teach them about confidence in who they are. That if a boy/man wants sex and u say no, then they call you frigid etc (which has happened over all generations, its not a new thing) Don't worry about it! They weren't worth it in the first place. And this needs to start from a young age. Age relevant of course.

Personally I think that removing any rewards for having children would do it. We are all too quick to throw money and houses at single parents. Remove the carrot then remove the want.

Personally sex lesson one would be a baby costs nearly £200000 from conception until the age of 16, so boys that could well be taken out of your wages and or/benefit.

OOps I forgot lol

Teach boys how to respect a woman, again from a young age. I wonder how many parents have conversations with their boys about treating girls/women the right way.  Having a 'Tween' girl, I hope that my generation of parents ARE teaching their boys the right way Smiley

The trouble today is that respect has been removed from society as a whole (am I really that old now) People couldnt care less about anyone else these days. Comunity is a thing of the past. People are just out for what they can get, and when things go wrong its somebody elses fault and we should compensate for this!

Couldn't agree more on that point, there were some bad apples in my generation for sure, but there seem to be a hell of a lot more these days.

I totally agree, But u'd think when it comes to their children they would make an effort. It all goes back to a parent teaching their children the right way and thewrong way...these days its the easy option Sad

Soviet Britain's answer is the only logical one ... and the only one that will work. By and large, human activity is shaped by economic reality.

School.

Follow the Dutch example.

They had one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in Europe awhile back. Now it is one of the lowest in Europe thanks to the reforming of sex education.

I totally agree too! but how do we start to rectify this? Does it start at home? Or, as ppl seem to think these days, is it down to the government?

I dont know about the Dutch system, But it sounds like they have got it right. How did they do this? Was it down to the schools and parents? Have their government helped too?
