You should check out Michael A Hoffman. Controversial but interesting.

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the force of the Crown. It may be frail, its roof may shake, the wind may blow through it. The rain may enter. The storms may enter. But the king of England may not enter. All his forces dare not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement."

William Pitt (the Elder), 1760

He is one among numerous accounts...I have four shelves of them...the majority of reputable historians German/Russian/British and US support the genocide of around 6 million Jews, Gypsies,Homosexuals, Jehovas Witnesses, Russiand,Poles etc.  My own interest is the German butchery of the Polish Catholic Church and the Vatican's  silence...then and now

Since so many on this forum quote 'history' in defence of their positions...much of which turns out to be myth or worse unrefined twaddle, isn't it time we had a real debate on British history ? Like a third on Nelson's crews at Trafalgar where black and 34 Polish airmen tipped the scales for us in 1940 and the Oppenheimer thesis on British ethnicity has not gone unchallenged by geneticists etc. Too much fiction is dressed up as fact...so lets establish some facts please before we generalise from a mythical past

One American to , yep i read that book from cover to cover( battle of britain,THEN AND NOW By "after the battle"

I think its about research , who wrote what and when.

As for the Poles i work for one of them who flew , he and his wife can tell a tale with such conviction , he was 85 last year and still stands taller than most i meet , firm handshake and a great big smile then off to church at 10 am every day.

Much can be gleaned by just meeting people and it cant all come out of a book no matter how accurate the research and integrity of the author.

Not always true; you can get a biased view. How do you know what you were told was accurate? And what happens if the evidence tells something different? As people get older their 'experiences' change to suit the mood of the times and to boost their sufferings.

I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

Thats a fair point.

Only we take the history part with a pinch of salt , but over years we gain a concensus of opinions , only when faced with real people can we truly start to understand what they went through , again having met such people it does dovetail well into what history books and suchlike has already told us .

Perhaps you mean fable?  A myth is not necessarily unfounded.  Just thought I would take part in the pedantry. There seems to be no shortage of Brit-bashing threads either so I don't get your problem. Oh, and genetics indeed has moved on  Wink

RACISM refers to "White people", enabling us to translate the phrase "Make RACISM history". Worked it out yet?   Next, the means...Mixed-Race SUPREMACISM now 'cool'...

The same could be said of the written word, especially the good book.
